Did you know Te Waiau Mahika Kai Trust has a stunning lodge and a cosy two-bedroom apartment, nestled at the base of the Takitimu maunga?
From 1 December 2025, we’re excited to once again manage bookings for our accommodation at Te Kōawa Tūroa o Takitimu, a taoka site of great significance to Kāi Tahu whānui.
Te Kōawa Lodge is ideal for:
Large rōpū and wānanga
Whānau reunions and celebrations
School camps and education visits
Conferences and team building retreats
Weddings and special events
Next door, you’ll find Te Kārearea, a warm and self-contained two-bedroom apartment — perfect for smaller rōpū, families, couples, or people working in the area.
Larger groups can also book both spaces together for extra capacity and flexibility.
We also take this opportunity to thank Ōraka-Aparima Rūnaka for their care, improvements, and stewardship of Te Kōawa over the past 13 years. He mihi nui ki a koutou!
